14 October 2025: Social Investment Scotland has impacted the lives of millions and is covered in a new article in The Scotsman to mark the publication of a new impact report.
The Scotsman’s piece describes SIS’ lending to social enterprises, charities, community groups and purpose or mission driven businesses across the UK and includes a range of statistics about the jobs and organisations supported.
It also highlights SIS’ key role in the CIEF programme, in which CDFIs are supporting micro, small and medium-sized businesses in the most deprived areas across England and Wales and into which Lloyds Bank has invested.
This year SIS is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and the longstanding member of Responsible Finance also has a key role in Financial Inclusion for Scotland.
Alastair Davis, SIS’ chief executive, is quoted in the article and describes how the new report shows the power of social investment to create meaningful change, in communities across and beyond Scotland.
“Our investees continue to tackle Scotland’s most pressing challenges, from providing essential childcare services that enable parents to work, to developing environmental sustainability initiatives including renewable and conservation projects. The fact that over a third of our investments are in Scotland’s most deprived areas shows we’re successfully channelling resources where they’re needed most….We’re not just providing finance, we’re helping to build the infrastructure for a fairer, more inclusive impact economy.”
The Scotsman’s story also includes a case study of a SIS investee, Community Circus Paisley.
