The Centre for Cities has produced a new report on cross boundary working – in which local authorities and businesses collaborate beyond local authority boundaries but at a smaller level than the nine government regions. The report, Beyond the Boundaries, has been published to coincide with the submission of proposals to form new Local Economic Partnerships (LEPs). It assesses the rationale for cross-boundary working, looks at the economic starting position of the ten largest LEPs, and sets out the challenges and issues that city leaders and central government will need to consider and resolve to make them work.
The report is available to download from www.centreforcities.org/beyondtheboundaries
