The Financial Secretary to the Treasury, Mark Hoban MP, asked the Financial Inclusion Taskforce to convene to help advise the government. The Taskforce is an independent body, which aims to ensure that everyone can access the financial services they need. Specific advice will include transactional banking, savings, insurance, and access to affordable credit. A statement on the Treasury website indicates that the task force will also be asked to advise the Coalition on access to debt advice at the next spending review.
Bernie Morgan, chief executive of the cdfa, is an active member of the taskforce.
