Ed Cox is the Director of IPPR North and chairs social enterprise Levenshulme Inspire, and was a panelist in our “What does Devolution Mean to Finance” session at the Responsible Finance 2016 Conference.
He talked about why Northern prosperity is national prosperity, yet productivity in the North of England has been held back by lack of investment over many years. He comments that devolution is fundamental to unlocking the North’s economic growth, transforming public services and reinvigorating local democracy, and that the role of community finance is fundamentally important.
After Ed’s closing call to action to “seize this opportunity and try to reboot capitalism from the bottom up,” Jamie Veitch interviewed Ed and you can listen to the interview here:
Responsible Finance 16 took place on 8th and 9th March in Manchester.
